Mel Gibson Moving to Costa Rica?

Monday September 24, 2007
Mel Gibson is indeed moving to Costa Rica, says IMDB -- but not to any humble abode. Gibson and his family plan to sell their homes in Connecticut and California and move to a 300-acre ranch in the Guanacaste province. The cost? $26 million US.

This isn't big news to fans who have followed the actor's relocation plans. But according to numerous online newsblogs, Mel Gibson is reportedly ignoring official US government warnings that this particular Costa Rica region is prone to kidnappings, and high-profile residents and visitors are at a much higher risk.

Mel Gibson has other ties to Central America. While his feature film about ancient Mayan culture, Apocalypto, took place in Mexico, he is crusading to promote conservation in the El Mirador region of Guatemala, even meeting with the Guatemalan president last month.
