The End of the Mayan Calendar... What Does It Mean?

Saturday January 3, 2009
The Mayan Calendar ends in 2012. That's a fact. However, what that means is subject to intepretation. In the Mayan regions of Central America, the end of the Mayan Calendar has always been a common topic of conversation. Now that fascination has come to the United States, most prominently with the upcoming Roland Emmerich film, 2012. Watch the trailer.

My first thought: Hello, CGI!

The film 2012 definitely looks like a worst-case scenario. Fortunately, most people of Mayan heritage I've spoke to about the Mayan Calendar believe its culmination will signify the end of an era -- paradigm shift, not the end of the world. Which could mean anything at all.

Soon I'll be putting up more information not just on the 2012 film, but on the Mayan Calendar itself. Is there anything you'd like to read about? What do you think the end of the Mayan Calendar means?

Ironically, the Universal Time of the winter solstice in 2012 is on December 21st at 11:11am. Many people consider this the “exact time” and have been experiencing an 11:11 awakening phenomena. Coincidence? Perhaps, but interesting nonetheless.

There is currently a debate going on regarding the Mayan calendar end date. Some (Carl Johan Calleman, Ian Lungold and Jose Arguelles) say it’s on October 28, 2011 while others (John Major Jenkins, Terence McKenna, Gregg Braden, Richard C. Hoagland, Dannion Brinkley, William Henry, David Wilcock, Daniel Pinchbeck, Geoff Stray and William Henry) believe it’s on December 21, 2012.

It’s too bad that there’s such a division of camps, because they both make some incredibly valid points outside of their end dates.

Personally, the end date is not important. The calendar represents a transformation of consciousness that’s going on right now.

The Mayan’s aren’t the only civilization with a 2012 end date for their calendar. Others include the Hopi, Aztec and Egyptian calendars. Terence McKenna discovered a correlation between the I-Ching and 2012 as well. It’s possible that Christianity used this knowledge in developing the story in the bible.

Many people will see these “end dates” as a day of cataclysmic activity. Many of the Mayan prophecies are based on their writing in the Chilam Balam, the Popol Vuh and the Dresden codices, none of which state there will be a cataclysm on this date. Unfortunately, many people will read the doomsday scenarios without actually researching what the Mayan calendar is all about.

It’s quite possible that nothing will happen on October 28, 2011 or December 21, 2012. In that case, the Mayan calendar would start all over again.

But one must find it quite coincidental that the precession of the equinox, an event that occurs only once every 26,000 years or so, occurs on December 21, 2012. On that day, a rare alignment occurs when the Earth, sun and the center of the Milky Way galaxy are in alignment. This is also an event that occurs once every 26,000 years or so.

Recently in the news, we’ve heard about how the planets in our solar system are going through dramatic climate changes and scientists do not have an explanation for this occurrence. In the past several weeks it was discovered that high-energy electrons from an unknown source are bombarding Earth.

Many suspect we’re in the midst of a DNA upgrade, as evidenced by a phenomenon called Indigo Children. It’s interesting to note that we’ve gone through four changes in the lineage of mankind, yet there are no gradual changes within this lineage. In other words, humans have received DNA upgrades in the past to make us a more evolved species.

These high energy electrons (called cosmic rays) have the ability to alter DNA. Perhaps this is what the Mayans envisioned? If this is true, then our next stage of evolution might involve a higher level of consciousness, going from our 3rd dimensional reality to a 4th or 5th dimensional reality.

With this in mind, then not everyone will make this transition. Those who live in fear will not be able to ascend to a higher vibration when thoughts become manifestations. Imagine if everyone made this transition. Hypothetically, if someone thought about a nuclear bomb exploding, it would happen if thoughts = manifestations.

As we’ve seen from the Law of Attraction, we’re already experiencing the beginning of the 4th dimension where people are discovering how much of an impact their positive thoughts create in obtaining their desires.

Most of the main stream media keeps people either uneducated or living in fear. Has anyone ever watched the 6 o’clock news and felt good afterwards? With the exception of those who advertise during the news, I doubt it.

There is an interesting astrological alignment that will occur when Pluto will still be close to the winter solstice degree of zero Capricorn and will be squared off by Uranus at 1 degree of Aries and Saturn at 1 degree of Libra at the equinox points. Configurations such as these have not occurred since the 1960’s when Pluto conjoined with Uranus in Virgo opposite Saturn in Pisces. What was seeded in the ’60’s Love Generation will be impelled to act in 2010.

In closing, there are many unusual and “coincidental” occurrences happening leading up to the year 2012. Perhaps nothing will happen on that day.

Or maybe not.

Ironic this ide, the end of an era, the cell phones, motorcycles and televisions are slowly ending this culture. I am not sure how long the Mayan culture can fight of the winds of change. I was just in Guatemala, many village are less likely to wear the shirts or clothing of their village. Thanks from Andy of HoboTraveler.com Travel Blog

We know that the Mayans were astonaunts and weather readers.

What also know…

Mother Nature has it’s way of cleansing the Earth after so many years.

The last time that happened it was the Black Death Plauge.

We have not had our Plauge and it will come some time weather you believe that our not. It will even if its not 2012.

I believe that “OUR PLAGUE” has come in the form of AIDS, but that’s just my thought on that statement form above.. As for the end of the Mayan calendar, I have read that the Mayans say that it’s not the end of the world but the end of an era. It is supposed to be thke beginning of a time where people are closer or something. Not the end of the human race.
