So according to the ancient Mayan calendar, the world ends today!
Not really. Although the belief has been passed around for years and years, it's one the Mayans themselves don't hold, according to CNN. On The Huffington Post, Joshua Berman (author of Moon Maya 2012: A Guide to Celebrations in Mexico, Guatemala, Belize and Honduras) explains what the "end" of the calendar really means.
So instead of celebrating the end of the world, why not celebrate Mayan culture? Visit a Mayan ruin in Central America, or one of Lake Atitlan's Mayan villages in Guatemala. Better yet, book a longer trip and travel the entire La Ruta Maya.
Have a great weekend!
