At the Tranquility Bay Resort, snorkelers can jump right off the dock into swarms of fish, or kayak out to the periphery of the Belize Barrier Reef. Tranquility also runs a full-service dive shop (though my wetsuit had to be brought in from San Pedro, as I didn't bring my own). Scuba divers can take a boat past the reef, just minutes away, to explore a network of coral canyons.
As a matter of fact, one of the best dive moments of my life happened while diving at Tranquility Bay, when a bottlenose dolphin spun by to look me in the face.
