Parting Shot: Refuge Boat Wreck, Ambergris Caye

Refuge Boat at Tranquility Bay

Refuge Boat at Tranquility Bay

Kirsten Hubbard
While relaxing in a beach hammock is a favorite pastime at the Tranquility Bay Resort, the best fun is had out at sea. Just don't end up like these guys! This wrecked boat, now permanently landlocked in front of the Tranquility Bay Resort office, once carried a load of Cuban refuges. It washed up on the shore of Ambergris Caye. Rumor has it a pair of iguanas lives inside, though I never saw them.
