The Arbor restaurant at Belize's Machaca Hill Lodge is supplemented with herbs and produce from Machaca Hill's own organic gardens and groves. The citrus orchard shown resulted in our morning glasses of fresh, organic orange juice.
There's also a program underway at Machaca Hill to educate Toledo's farmers in the benefits and practice of organic farming. In this way, Machaca Hill is actively spreading its environmental mantra -- something I profoundly admire, and yet another reason to choose Machaca Hill Lodge over other jungle lodges in Belize.
