The Machaca Hill Lodge is perched on a forested hill in Belize's Laughing Falcon Reserve, overlooking the Rio Grande. A set of concrete steps scales the hill from the river to the lobby of the jungle lodge -- over three hundred steps, as a matter of fact.

Luckily, would-be freshwater fisherman and kayakers have no need to stumble. Machaca Hill also boasts a jungle tram, which ascends or descends the hill on bright green metal rails.
