The Maruba Resort & Jungle Spa in Belize

The Maruba Resort & Spa is about an hour’s drive from Belize City, just ten miles from one of Belize’s most popular tourist attractions: the Maya ruins of Altun Ha. Many travelers visit both Maruba and Altun Ha on day trips from San Pedro on Ambergris Caye, Caye Caulker or Belize City, with lunch and optional Maruba spa treatments at the Maruba resort after a morning trekking the well-preserved ruins.

Know that road to the Maruba Resort is one of Belize’s less savory – be prepared for bumps, potholes, puddles and barefoot children on bicycles. We had to find the resort at night, which was slightly terrifying. At least our rental SUV from Belize City’s Crystal Auto Rentals had four-wheel drive.
