The Maruba Resort & Jungle Spa in Belize

Soaking in the Jungle at Maruba

Kirsten Noelle Hubbard
The landscape of the Maruba Resort is a labyrinth of gravel paths and forested tunnels. It can be confusing at night; ask a staff member to show you to your room if you think you might lose it. Local and international sculptures, pottery and other art is scattered throughout the grounds. Some of it is provocative, to say the least – especially in the tiny office (take a peek, if you dare!)

Pictured above is the mineral pool. It smelled kind of funky, but staff informed us that it’s sanitary. Just the scent of healthful elixir, I guess. Definitely warm and soothing. For more intoxicating fragrances, check out Maruba’s hookah lounge. Just ask, and a staff member will stock the hookah pipe with flavorful tobacco.
