Belize Attractions Near the Maruba Resort

Kirsten Noelle Hubbard
There are several Belize attractions near the Maruba Resort & Jungle Spa. Tours are available through the Maruba Resort itself; however, if you’re renting your own car, I recommend saving the cash and visiting them on your own.

Altun Ha Mayan Ruins:
Just ten miles from Maruba, the Maya ruins of Altun Ha are some of Belize’s best-preserved.

Community Baboon Sanctuary:
Get up close and personal with some of Belize’s black howler monkeys, called baboons by the locals, at Belize’s Community Baboon Sanctuary (CBS). The grassroots organization has made giant strides in saving the vocal primates.

Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary:
If you prefer feathers over fur, take a trip to the Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary. Boat through lagoons teeming with waterfowl, including the Jabiru Stork, the largest bird in the Americas.
