Belize's Port of Honduras Marine Reserve is located off the coast of the Toledo District in Southern Belize, near Punta Gorda Town. It's part of the Bay of Honduras, which borders Belize, Honduras, and Guatemala.
The Port of Honduras Marine Reserve includes a turquoise expanse of Caribbean littered with 135 mangrove islands, a few of them deserted dream-isles with soft, pale beaches.
My photos of the Port of Honduras Marine Reserve in Belize were taken in February, 2008, on an excursion from Machaca Hill Lodge. I hope they represent a savory slice of this idyllic ocean preserve, its pristine islands and protected waters. Three cheers for Belize for doing its part to maintain one of the most beautiful corners of the world: the Port of Honduras Marine Reserve.
