Welcome to Costa Rica!
The international airport in San Jose, Costa Rica is officially called Juan Santamaria International Airport. Juan Santamaria is Costa Rica's "National Hero", a young drummer boy and soldier who was killed in 1856 in the war against William Walker, the bloodthirsty American conqueror of Nicaragua.
The Costa Rica airport is located in the San Jose suburb of Alajeula, about twenty or thirty minutes from the San Jose. There is also a Costa Rica international airport in Liberia, Guanacaste, closer to the Nicoya Peninsula beaches on Costa Rica's Pacific Coast.
