Costa Rica Wedding Traditions and Customs:
Destination weddings in Costa Rica (especially on Costa Rica beaches!) are tropical fantasies by definition. All that’s required is bare feet or sandals, flowing sundresses, and of course, armfuls of tropical flowers.

However, Costa Rica destination weddings are best when the cultures themselves are married — your culture as well as Costa Rican culture. Read on to find out more about Costa Rica wedding traditions and customs.

Costa Rica Wedding Cuisine:

Food is plentiful at Costa Rica weddings. Of course, casados – literally, “marriages” – are common dishes at Costa Rica wedding tables, featuring meat, salad, plantains, and the ubiquitous gallo pinto. Seafood barbeques are popular choices for Costa Rica beach weddings. At upscale Costa Rica resorts and hotels, dining options are often much more gourmet.

A Family Affair :

Family is one of the most important elements of any traditional Costa Rica wedding. Elopement is extremely uncommon. Often, Costa Rica weddings include dozens of extended family members, from ancient to infant.

Musical Traditions:

Live music is a staple at Costa Rica weddings. Costa Rica music ranges from traditional Latin music to Top 40-style beats. If you’re getting married on Costa Rica’s Caribbean coast, you might choose a reggae band or a group specializing in island-themed tunes.
