Definition:
Gallo pinto, which literally translates as “spotted rooster”, is a quintessential side dish in Nicaragua and Costa Rica. Gallo Pinto is made of rice and beans mixed together, usually white rice and black beans. On the Caribbean coast, coconut milk or grated coconut is a welcome addition.
Pronunciation: Guy-oh Peen-toh (don't say Gal-oh!)
Also Known As: Rice & beans, Arroz con Frijoles
