Kirsten Noelle Hubbard
In Central America, a lancha is a small passenger motorboat. You’ll encounter them when crossing lakes such as Lake Atitlan and Lago de Nicaragua, on riverboat journeys, and even when traveling between islands.

La Lancha is also the name of a resort owned by Francis Ford Coppola on Lake Peten Itza, near the Tikal ruins in Guatemala.

Pronunciation: Launch-ah
Also Known As: Motorboat, Lancha motora, Lancha de motor
