Guide Review - Art Workshops in Antigua Guatemala
The company's class selection is quite impressive. On top of standard arts and crafts, Art Workshops in Guatemala also features classes that intertwine the arts with local culture, like Creativity and Mayan Culture, and a Weaving, Textiles and Crafts Tour, which includes exploring the villages around Lake Atitlan.
Because classes are so small (never more than ten in number), students enjoy specialized attention in the medium they favor, be it oil painting or carpetmaking. The company's faculty is admirably accomplished---for example, travel writing instructor Richard Harris has published 18 guidebooks, and photographer Judy Olausen's book, Mother, made the New York Times bestseller list.
Classes through Art Workshops in Guatemala are ten days long and cost between $1,555 and $1,795 USD, airfare not included. But prices do include tuition, lodging in Antigua Guatemala's classic colonial hotels, breakfast, ground transportation to and from the airport, and field trips around the region.
