Accommodations at Hotel Jaguar Inn Santa Elena are basic, but clean and cheerful, with red Mayan blankets and matching curtains. Rooms are arranged around a tree-filled courtyard.
Though many travelers choose to stay in Flores, the Santa Elena hotel is within walking distance of the island, so it's easy to stop by for dinner or a dose of Guatemala nightlife. The sunset walk across the bridge was one of the loveliest things I've ever seen -- stay tuned for photos. Once you're ready to head to bed, grab a Tuk-tuks to expedite the journey back.
