The Piedras y Olas Hotel & Resort boasts two restaurants: Restaurant La Cascada, and the more casual Bistro La Canoa. Both overlook swimming pools, and boast exquisite views of San Juan del Sur.
Even if youre staying at a different San Juan del Sur hotel, its vastly worth making the uphill trek to dine at one of the Pelican Eyes restaurants. Chef LBee Busheys cuisine is probably the best Ive had in all my Central America travels an expert blend of the local and the international gourmet.
Among the dishes we enjoyed at Piedras y Olas Hotel were outstanding chicken salads; smoked tomato bisque with orzo pasta (so delicious I ordered it on two separate nights); an Ahi tuna steak with cheesy risotto; ceviche; hot artichoke dip with fresh tortilla chips (we also ordered this twice!), smoked chicken nachos; and a ribeye steak.
For dessert, we couldnt resist the apple crisp and crème brulee. Even better were the bars perfect margaritas, both lime and watermelon flavored. And while fully stocked coffee makers are included in every room, its worth waking up early to savor an espresso at Bistro La Canoa along with a massive breakfast (included with your reservation).
