"Placencia" refers to both Placencia Village and the Placencia Peninsula, located in southern Belize's Stann Creek District. While Placencia Village is home to fewer than 1000 full-time residents, a number of hostels, hotels and resorts have been built along the peninsula in recent years. As a result, Placencia is a great destination for travelers on every type of budget.
To get to Placencia from Belize City, travelers can book a flight through Maya Island Air or Tropic Air. Travelers on a budget can opt for a bus from Belize City (heading to Dangriga); or they can get off in Independence Village and hop on the Hokie Pokie ferry to Placencia.
