Definition: This prickly Latin American fruit, known as soursop in Belize and guanabana in Spanish-speaking Central America countries, is a tasty treat. Unfortunately, soursop fruits can be hard to eat, because of big black seeds and and tough membranes. Soursop juice and ice cream are easier ways to try the fruits.
In Central America, soursop fruits are thought to have many medicinal properties, from breaking fevers to curing stomach sickness. Research also shows that the cure for cancer might lie in the evergreen soursop tree -- at least, that's what Wikipedia says.
