- Provides healthy twists on favorite Central America recipes.
- Most importantly: the recipes are delicious!
- Every possible Central America cuisine type is covered, from soups to salsas.
- The "Vegan Central American Storecupboard" section is helpful for new cooks.
- No photographs! When it comes to cookbooks, drawings just don't suffice.
- It would be nice if the recipes were arranged in steps, instead of paragraphs of text.

Even better, the cookbook introduces many Central America recipes I've never heard of, like onion escabeche and iced sweetcorn cream. Of course, cooks with an appetite for a little more protein can easily add meat or seafood to many of the recipes.
Here's a selection of the Central America recipes you'll find in A Vegan Taste of Central America:
Chilled avocado soup
Fried potato and corn cakes
Butternut squash and cornmeal pie
Bean-filled plantain pancakes
Green chile and potato stew
Honduras herbed flat bread
Banana with chilled mocha custard
Strawberry wine punch
