Maya Magic: Guatemala and Honduras

Visit modern Mayan cities and ancient Mayan ruins, all on the same trip.

  • 2-3 Days – Arrival and Antigua: Fly into Guatemala City, and book a shuttle at the airport to take you to traveler-friendly colonial city, Antigua.
  • 5-6 Days – Lake Atitlan and Chichicastenango: From Antigua, take a shuttle or chickenbus to Panajachel, on the shores of Lake Atitlan. As time allows, take boats out to Mayan villages, San Pedro La Laguna and Santiago Atitlan. On Thursday or Sunday, take a day trip from Panajachel to the country’s best Maya market at Chichicastenango.
  • 2-3 Days – Quetzaltenango: From Panajachel or Chichicastenango, take a shuttle to beautiful highlands city, Quetzaltenango (Xela).
  • 3 Days – Copan and Departure: Travel from Quetzaltenango back to Antigua. From there, book a tour out to the Maya ruins at Copan, right across the border in Honduras. Bus back into Guatemala City for departure.
