Spring Break in Central America

We've got spring fever!

Rosarito Beach is so last year. More and more intrepid travelers are choosing to spend their spring break on Central America’s islands and beaches.

    For Ultimate Relaxation:

  • Placencia, Belize

Is the Puerto Vallarta club scene not your thing? If your spring break fantasy is a little lazier—cold beers, hammocks strung between palm trees, and warm Caribbean waters—look no further than Placencia, in southern Belize. Your only job: climbing that tree to hack down a second coconut.

  • Utila, Honduras

While Utila definitely has a party scene, it’s a simple, leisurely sort, typical of Central America’s top backpacker destinations. Most international travelers head to Utila for its low-cost, world-class Scuba diving, but the island has lots to offer the non-diver, like snorkeling, watersports, and spectacular seafood.

  • Caye Caulker, Belize

If Ambergris Caye seems a little too lively, opt for the smaller, nearby island of Caye Caulker. Smaller also means cheaper; you can rent a cabana at Tropical Paradise for around $10 a person. Chill out by the water at the Lazy Lizard. Sing karaoke at Oceanside. Above all, be sure to order a pina colada at Rasta Pasta—they’re the biggest I’ve ever seen!
