Central America is packed with backpacker destinations. Traveling on a shoestring might mean sacrificing luxuries, but it also means instant camaraderie with open-minded backpackers from all over the world. What's your favorite destination for Central America backpacking? Where's your budget spot?

Antigua Guatemala

if you are looking for a great place to start your Central American vacation you cannot beat Antigua Guatemala. It has Numerous Spanish schools where you can learn to Habla Espanol to get you around Latin america. Cheap, friendly place, i would recommend it to anyone.

You won't believe how far the dollar goes here. Plus the food is great, there are lots of little restaurants with all local ingredients really unique dishes and so tasty!

Utila

Interesting people, beautiful diving, great bars. Utila has been one of my favorite places so far. I recommend the Treetanic bar to see what a bar/garden would look like if Dr Seuss threw up in it.
