- Garnachas are my favorite ...hand made fried tortillas with ground or chopped very small pork ...top with pure homemade tomato sauce cotija cheese and topped off with paper thin sliced onions. oh yea, and Guatemalan sour cream and cilantro.

Tostadas
- A recipe from a Guatemalan friend: Guatemalan Tostadas Salsa: 8 ripe tomatoes or 2 cans diced tomatoes 1 green onion 1 clove garlic Cut tomatoes into wedges, cut up green onion, peel and smash garlic. Put into a pan and cook on medium heat until thoroughly cooked. Add salt to taste. Meat: 1 lb. hamburger 1/4 cup chopped onion 1 small can tomato sauce 2 whole bay leaves Salt and pepper to taste Combine in frying pan. Cook all ingredients. Simmer meat in this sauce. To serve: Spread salsa generously on tostada. Add a layer of the meat mixture. Top with cheese. Enjoy.

- I totally love any Guatemalan food, having grown up with it, but I must say my two favorites are Plantains with Mole, and Rellenitos (plaintains stuffed with black beans)
